Additional Details: Albert Marquet's "Fenêtre à la Goulette," painted in 1926, captures a serene scene viewed through an open window. In the foreground, a vase brimming with vibrant flowers rests on the windowsill. Beyond, the calm waters of the Mediterranean Sea stretch out, with a sailboat gently navigating its expanse. Marquet's delicate brushstrokes and impressionistic style lend a tranquil and intimate atmosphere to the composition. Marquet, a close friend of Henri Matisse, often painted alongside him during their travels. In 1926, they visited Tunisia together, where Marquet found inspiration in the coastal town of La Goulette. This painting reflects the influence of their shared experiences and the Mediterranean environment on his work. The painting was later featured in an exhibition at the Musée de l'Orangerie in Paris, which ran from October 1975 to January 1976. To promote the exhibition, the museum produced a large-scale reproduction of "Fenêtre à la Goulette" in 1970. This billboard-sized poster was printed by the renowned Mourlot studio, known for its high-quality art reproductions.
