"The Barchester Chronicles" is a historical drama television series based on two novels by Anthony Trollope: "The Warden" and "Barchester Towers." The series originally aired in 1982 on BBC Television in the United Kingdom. It was adapted by Alan Plater and directed by David Giles. Set in the fictional English county of Barsetshire during the mid-19th century, "The Barchester Chronicles" follows the lives and intrigues of the clergy, gentry, and residents of the small cathedral town of Barchester. The series explores themes of social class, morality, and political maneuvering within the ecclesiastical hierarchy.
